Cannabis Licensing Authority is seeking suitably qualified candidates to apply for the following position:
Driver/Courier (LMO/DR 1) – Vacant
Job Purpose
The incumbent undertakes the collection and delivery of official mail/documents and is responsible for transporting staff to and from official assignments and conducts routine daily/weekly maintenance of the assigned vehicle.
Key Responsibilities
Correspondence and packages should be delivered daily or as per agreed schedule.
Incoming correspondence, packages should be collected as per agreed schedule/timelines.
Officers/staff attending official meetings should arrive at venue within the time stipulated Logbook governing/detailing use of company vehicle to be updated daily and presented at the agreed interval.
Periodically checks validity of official documentation (registration/fitness/Insurance) re operation of vehicle. This check should be monthly.
Expiration of official documentation for vehicle is reported within the agreed timeframe
Vehicle is clean and road worthy
Details in Dispatch Book are complete and accurate
Compliance to the Government of Jamaica road code and relevant legislation
Responds to dispatch within the agreed timeframe
Vehicle inspection covers the main areas and is done within the established timeframe.
Maintains integrity and confidentially.
Records and reports the mileage traveled daily in the dispatch and logbook
Delivers and collects letters/correspondence, packages and other miscellaneous items.
Provides logistical support for Cannabis Licensing Authority activities
Prepares records and reports in connection with operation of the Cannabis Licensing Authority vehicle
Facilitates the schedule for periodic vehicle maintenance
Monitors/updates documentation (registration, fitness and insurance) for vehicle
Assists with preparations for hosting of exhibitions
Inspects the vehicle by ensuring that tyres, light, etc. are in good working condition and reports any damages to the Resource Officer
Ensures that the vehicle has adequate amount of gas, oil and distilled water at the beginning of each trip.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
Knowledge of road and traffic laws regulation
Knowledge of defensive driving
Knowledge of traffic patterns
Knowledge of delivery routes
Ability to perform basic mechanical maintenance tasks

Qualifications and Experience
General Driver’s Licence
School leaving Certificate
A minimum of two (2) years’ experience as driver
Special Working Conditions
Required to be on call in case of emergency.
Required to go out of town on weekends
Required to work outside regular working hours
