Purpose of role
- To manage all aspects of EHS Systems by ensuring that the business has the appropriate support tools for managing aspects of the Environmental Health and Safety programme.
- EHS systems must be appropriate to ensure data is live and updated by regions providing the ability for reporting and statistical analysis across Training, Incident Reporting and Audit Management for offices and retail sites.
- To drive forward and continually improve all aspects of EHS management through knowledge and awareness in accordance with Group policies, global procedures, legislation and best practice.

Key Responsibilities
- Be the main contact and driver for all EHS information systems used by the EHS team. A keen understanding of the technological and organizational needs of the EHS function within Primark will be required along with ability to research and implement technology and network-based systems to increase EHS productivity.
- Keep up-to-date with current and emerging technology and computing trends.
- Perform data collection, database management, data entry for multiple systems; compiles and generates informational and statistical reports, charts and metrics; and performs various analyses. This role will also be required to develop metrics, data summaries, communications and resources for reporting out to the EHS Team and to the greater Primark functions. Support incident investigations to determine root cause and corrective action management as required.
- Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the company's future EHS management system in accordance with the requirements of Primark corporate guidelines, international regulatory requirements, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and other EHS related best practice.
- Ensure documents within the EHS Management System are current and are systematically reviewed by the appropriate document owners including updating of documents as appropriate across the regions.
- Is responsible for keeping the Executive and Head of EHS up-to-date with regulatory changes and maintaining the EHS legal registers in conjunction with the EHS Country Managers.
- Ensures the corporate risk assessment programme is conducted by supporting the local EHS team in identifying, assessing any foreseeable risk arising from retail/office activities or process, evaluating the risks and ensure effective control measures.
- Together with company stakeholders, develop EHS online training material, source and approve new suppliers of EHS training throughout the group to ensure consistency and effectiveness. Create training metrics to ensure that all EHS training is defined and tracked to completion and produce uptake reports where appropriate for the Executive.
- Support the safe operation of the head offices to ensure compliance with all safety requirements including fire safety, contractor safety management and other programmes as may be identified.
- Support the Internal (PEAT) Audit system and liaise with the PEAT providers to ensure the agreed programme of work is executed. Schedule the management review meetings, management of supplier KPI's and ensure continuous improvements in the PEAT process.
- Prepares accurate, complete, clear, concise and timely reports communicating all KPI's to ABF and remains accountable for each region completing their KPI returns in a timely manner.
- Identify appropriate leading and lagging indicators to track EHS performance against agreed corporate objectives and targets and report these periodically to Head of EHS.
- Provides support to each region for the corporate (ABF) audit programme and supports the closure of any findings by developing and implementing corrective action.
- Carry out health & safety inspections as required by legislation, Primark company policy, identifying potential hazards and recommending appropriate remedial action where required.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Primary degree (post graduate qualification in Environmental Health & Safety in absence of degree) or related engineering/ science discipline.
- Five years’ experience in Environmental Health and Safety and understanding of role.
- Retail or FMCG's experience a distinct advantage.
- Thorough knowledge of, and ability to advise upon, Environmental, Health & Safety matters, risk management and legislation, with substantial demonstrable experience of personal involvement in the management of safety within a diverse fast paced work environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, codes of practice, guidance and operating procedures. Ability to keep abreast of trends and related best practice;
- Evidence of strong interpersonal skills in order to establish credibility with colleagues and senior management and to foster effective working relations with a wide range of senior internal and external contacts;
- Exceptional influencing and persuading skills with the ability to adopt different approaches and styles of influencing depending on the circumstances.
- Results orientated with a strong focus on the delivery of objectives, including an ability to provide creative and innovative solutions based on a sound understanding of business requirements.

The ideal individual will
- Establish effective relationships and work closely and co-operatively with directors, executives and senior managers – within the retail team, the group EHS team and other stakeholders such as construction, facilities management, human resources and legal services etc
- Be persuasive, enthusiastic and passionate about the people, commercial and environmental aspects of health and safety and be able to drive change.
- Have a track record of the successful delivery of EHS processes, policies and initiatives resulting in improved standards and behavioural change, with the ability to adopt a measured approach with good analytical and tactical skills.
- Have a deep technical knowledge and experience of EHS risk management.
- Have proven management experience in a multi-location site environment. Additional experience in project management would be an advantage.
