Grossing Technician/Medical Lab Technician - Full Time, Days Flex

A grossing technician in the anatomical pathology department is responsible for accessioning, preparation, dissection and processing of anatomic pathology specimens. Other responsibilities include participation in intraoperative consultations, gross room maintenance, and specimen management tasks. This individual may also participate in postmortem examinations.
EDUCATION:Bachelor's degree in related science discipline, preferred. Associate's degree with appropriate science-related education requirements acceptable.
LICENSURE:NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician or Histological Technician license
EXPERIENCE:Prior laboratory experience preferred; prior knowledge of medical procedures and terminology preferred.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:Detail-oriented, ability to focus and maintain concentration; good written and oral communication skills, ability to prioritize work, strong problem solving and time management skills preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Able to stand for long periods of time; requires manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination. Able to perform light lifting, up to 40 pounds.
