The Job
The Head of Programmes is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining systems to effect operational efficacy in the training and assessment process. The Incumbent is responsible for ensuring that a consistent and certified pool of competent workers be available to satisfy labour market demands. This job is expected to have institution-wide impact on the capacity to deliver high quality labour market driven programmes.
Qualifications & Experience
NVQ-J Level 5 Certification or bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in disciplines, such as: Education/Technical Vocational Education and Training, Business Administration
At least three (3) years relevant experience in a comparable position for mastering the demands of the functions. The experience ideally should be gained from an industry/environment similar to what prevails at the HEART/NSTA Trust. Such environment could include: a National Training Agency, a Community College, Teacher’s College, a Polytechnic College, or a TVET Institute/Campus or the Training Department of a large employer.
Key Duties
Monitors and maintains the accreditation status and making application for evaluation/reaffirmation
Conducts audits to assist in maintaining compliance with standards
Makes recommendations for process improvements
Produces, reviews and updates standard operating procedures, policies and procedures manual and trainee handbook
Systems for training and assessment processes implemented and maintained
Quality assurance systems managed, monitored and regularly reviewed
Leads preparation of the annual operational plan and budget for the department to support the achievement of the Trust’s strategic objectives
Sound knowledge of Technical Vocational Education and Training systems, Adult Education and Lifelong Learning programmes and National Youth Development system
NB: This is a traveling position and as such, all applicants MUST possess a reliable Motor Vehicle and a valid Drivers’ Licence.
