The National Land Agency invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position within the Surveys & Mapping Division:
Hydrographic Surveyor
The successful candidates will report to the Senior Hydrographic Surveyor

Job Purpose
To conduct topographic and hydrographic surveys and to undertake surveys to establish survey control network island-wide, in accordance with the required standards and specifications

Key Responsibilities
Management/Administrative Responsibilities
Ensures that assigned work is planned and executed according to objectives
Hires and pays day Labourers as necessary during field work
Conducts performance appraisal of subordinate staff in accordance with the Performance Management and Appraisal System guideline
Prepares report in respect of work assignments
Technical /Professional Responsibilities
Carries out Investigation to locate background information needed for preparation of particular survey projects
Selects relevant equipment and staff to carry out survey assignment
Carries out survey in the various areas of the discipline, e.g. topographic, hydrographic and geodetic
Assists with proposal presentation for the execution of survey projects
Supervises the preparation of plans and drawings
Reviews plans/charts and computations prepared by subordinates
Prepares technical reports and costs at completion of projects
Carries out technical on-the-job training for staff in respect of field and office operations

Required Competencies/Skills
The post-holder should be able to demonstrate:
Excellent computation and analytical skills
Excellence in reading and interpreting plans and specifications
Good interpersonal skills
Good leadership skills
Good oral and written communication skills
Good planning, organizing and solving problems skills
Ability to use instruments and equipment required for survey projects
Ability to work in a team environment
Working knowledge of relevant computer applications
Working knowledge of Land/Hydrographic Surveying, Project Management
Working knowledge of CAD and surveying software
Sound work ethics

Minimum Required Qualifications
Undergraduate degree or equivalent in Land SurveyingORLand Surveyor’s Commission
Training in Supervisory Management
Basic training and two years working experience in hydrographic surveyingORIHO Category B Hydrographic Surveyor Certification
