Job Description:

The Department of English seeks an Instructor to teach courses in spoken and/or written English to international students. Our spoken English courses seek to develop and improve general spoken English skills (pronunciation, stress, intonation, and rhythm), overall comprehensibility, and interaction skills for international teaching assistants. Our English as a Second Language composition courses are designed to improve international students’ grammar, research, and writing skills in formal academic English.

Required Qualifications: at least an M.A. in English as a Second Language and/or Linguistics, Evidence of outstanding teaching in ESL, Familiarity with OPI (oral proficiency interview) technique.

Additional Qualifications Desired: Prior experience teaching ESL in higher education, ITA (international teaching assistant) training, experience teaching English Composition at the university level.
