The University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech, Jamaica) seeks to identify a suitable candidate to fill the post of:
Laboratory Technician (Level 5)– Biology/Chemistry
The incumbent will be responsible for preparing laboratories for classes and assisting students and researchers with experiments. He/she ensures that the required materials and equipment are available and conducts pre-tests as required.

Academic Requirements
The preferred applicant should possess:
Preferably a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology/Chemistry
OR
A Diploma in Laboratory Technology with specialization in Biology/Chemistry or equivalent qualification

Additional Requirements
The candidate should have:
Specialized training in health and safety procedures in a biological/chemical environment
Sound knowledge in the proper maintaining, calibrating and operating standard lab equipment
Knowledge of procuring lab samples, material and related equipment
Knowledge of providing technical support to academic staff and students (demonstrating procedures)
Ability to prepare samples and set up equipment for daily experiments
Minimum two (2) years working experience in a Biology/Chemistry laboratory or similar environment
Excellent communication, customer service, analytical and interpersonal skills
