Job Summary
The Legal Officer (JLG/LO 3) in the Financial Investigations Division will provide legal expertise in the areas mandated to the Financial Investigations Division.

Key Responsibility Areas
Prepare cases for submission to the Director, Public Prosecutions
Institute legal actions to collect unpaid debts and defend the Financial Investigations Division in civil suits
Research and advise the Financial Investigations Division on matters relating to revenue laws, financial legislations and other legal matters.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
Technical
Expert knowledge of tax laws, related rulings, regulations and relevant court decisions
Comprehensive knowledge of the laws governing financial crimes, as well as the Drug Offences (Forfeiture of Proceeds) Act
Comprehensive knowledge of investigative policies, methods and objectives of the Ministry of Finance and Public Service
Comprehensive knowledge of business slaws, commercial and trade practices
Comprehensive knowledge of applicable rules of criminal practice and procedure and the relevant Constitutional Laws
Knowledge of the relevant computer application and systems

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor of Laws Degree along with;
Certificate of Legal Education
Four (4) years related experience
Incumbent Must be admitted to practice Law in Jamaica
