I am working in partnership with a well know and rapidly growing pupil referral unit. They are seeking an immediately available teaching assistant to join their team. This school provides full time, alternative secondary education for pupils that have been permanently excluded from mainstream education due to their challenging behaviour. Due to the nature of the pupils, classes sizes are small with a maximum of 5 per class and the establishment is stretched across multiple sites across the Bristol region. This means a clear UK current driving licence would be advantageous, although not essential.
- SEMH Teaching Assistant, Bristol
- Full-time Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 3:30
- Temporary to permanent opportunity
- GBP57 to GBP70 per day
- Ongoing training & development, including TEAM TEACH
The ideal candidate will ideally have experience of working within a SEMH role or have worked in a particularly challenging environment with young adults or teenagers.. Patience, resilience and flexibility are essential for this post in order to cope with the unpredictable behaviour of the pupils on a day to day basis. This role will initially be on a temporary basis with a view to turn permanent for the right candidate. Types of candidates who have worked really well in this role have been:

- Counselling
- Mental Health Charity Workers
- First hand experience with family members with SEN (Special Educational Needs)
