Jamaica Packaging Industries, a leading manufacturer and retailer of corrugated packaging materials seeks to fill the following vacancy:
Plant Safety Officer
The Plant Safety Officer will be required to monitor all activities to ensure that work is conducted in compliance with Company policies and Government safety regulations. The duties will include policy development, safety inspections, safety training and compliance with the Jamaica Factories Act and Occupational Safety & Health Administration.

Job Functions
Auditing and monitoring of production procedures for any unsafe practices or breaches in policies and regulations.
Assessing risk and possible safety hazards to ensure compliance with Jamaica Factories and Occupational Act of Jamaica.
Creating analytical reports of safety data.
Inspecting production equipment and processes to ensure their safety for use and ordering repairs to equipment deemed to be a potential safety hazard.
Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety through continuing education to update knowledge of health and safety protocols among staff.

Skills/Education
Diploma or bachelor’s degree (Engineering) and Certification in safety management
At least 3 years in a similar capacity in a manufacturing facility
Good verbal and written communication skills
Expert knowledge of laws and regulations relating to Occupational Health & Safety
Analytical/Problem Solving skills and ability to work well under pressure
