- Work in a forward thinking secondary SEN school, based in Peckham, for children with learning difficulties
- GBP60-GBP80 per day, dependent on experience
This role will suit someone available for full time work, who can start as soon as possible. You will provide 1:1 support for a key stage 3 class, comprising 7 students who have mixed, complex needs including non-verbal autism. You must have experience of working with special needs, particularly those who struggle with verbal communication.
You will follow direction from the class teacher and working collaboratively with 3 other teaching assistants. You will be a crucial component in the children’s sensory, social, numeracy, literacy, speech, language and communication development. It would be beneficial if you have prior experience of using PECs or Makaton as this will be something you use every day.
The ideal candidate:
- Will be able to provide personal care throughout the day, including toileting and changing students
- Will have an excellent attendance record, and a friendly and engaging manner
- Will be able to commit to working at this school full time, long term and potentially become a permanent member of staff in the future
- Will be committed to their own professional development, and will take every opportunity to attend training courses either at the school or through Teaching Personnel
- Will already be able to use PECs or Makaton, or will be willing to learn
