National Land Agency invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position:
Senior Final Accounts Officer–Corporate Services Division
The successful candidate will report to the Supervisor, Final Accounts and Reporting.
Job Purpose
To provide accountability for revenue and expenditure in relation to Ad hoc and Systematic Land Titling transactions and ensure that related records are created, updated and maintained in accordance with established procedures;
To ensure that accounting information is maintained in accordance with GAAP, the FAA Act and established organizational guidelines.
Key Responsibility Areas
Technical /Professional Responsibilities
Creates and maintains database to capture all client transactions via (SAGE 300) computerized application software
Ensures that all payments made on behalf of client are posted to correct account in the sub-ledger
Retrieves and posts requisitions of all legal charges to relevant customer account
Verifies deposits made to relevant bank account and posts confirmed transaction to customer account
Verifies validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating information from the Land Administration and Management Division (LAMD) and customers
Assists bank reconciliation officer to carry out investigation into unidentified deposits
Prepares summary sub-ledger report and reconciles with General Ledger
Coordinates monthly transfer of incoming deposits or payments to revenue account in accordance with established policy
Provides detailed list of client balances held in relevant bank accounts
Makes recommendation of amounts to be transferred to LAMP Fund
Assists in the preparation of audit schedules to facilitate year end audits
Assists in preparation of response to audit queries
Other Responsibilities
Performs other related duties assigned from time to time by the Supervisor.
Required Competencies/Skills
The post-holder must be able to demonstrate:
Good written and oral communication skills
Good interpersonal skills
Knowledge of financial and accounting principles and procedures and relevant statutes, including the FAA Act, Instructions and Regulations
Familiarity with relevant computer applications (AccPac and Microsoft suite of programmes)
Minimum Required Education and Experience
AAT (Level 2) or CAT (Level B)ORDiploma in accounting from a recognized institution
Three (3 years) of relevant experience in an accounting environment
