Statistician

Summary of Duties
Under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer the individual will:
Provide statistical data as it relates to but not limited to morbidity, birth and death analysis, utilization of hospital beds according to professional services, rendered and related data, types of diseases, types of cases requiring special treatment
Make recommendations and implement agreed approaches to data collection and collations
Prepare reports of statistical analyses, including information in the form of graphs, charts, and tables
Prepare data for processing by organizing information, checking for any inaccuracies, and adjusting and weighting raw data
Evaluate the statistical methods and procedures used in obtaining data to ensure validity, applicability, efficiency, and accuracy
Maintain up to date comparative statistical data from overseas on issues of relevance to the research and policy priorities of UHWI.

Education
Master’s degree in Statistics or related discipline;
Three (3) years’ relevant work experience;
Proficiency in the use of statistical methodology software and other relevant computer software applications;
Ability to analyse and interpret data/information in a Hospital setting would be an asset.

Required Competencies
Good Report Writing skills
Resourcefulness and ability to work independently
Knowledge of theory, systems and application statistical research methodology
Knowledge of statistical software applications
