Access Community Services Limited (ACSL) is Australia's leader and specialist in settlement, employment, training and youth and social enterprises for migrants, refugees and mainstream clients, in Queensland, particularly in the South East. Position Overview
The Youth Project Officer will be supporting the administration and facilitation of youth projects that align with youth leadership issues identified through the Multicultural Youth Queensland (MyQ) Council and mobilizing young people to engage, act and lead on these issues. This role will sit within the Community Development and Engagement team at Access who regularly work with active community members and Community Leaders.
Key Responsibilities
Support administration of Multicultural Youth Queensland Council meetings and projects.
Communicate regularly with MyQ Council members.
Plan, develop and deliver projects in consultation with MyQ Council and team.
Work with the team on advocating on issues raised through MyQ Council by young people.
Build strong professional relationships with community members in order to provide information, advice, advocacy and support as required.
Performance objectives are based on the key accountabilities above and are aligned to organization and team objectives.
Individual performance measures and behavioral standards will be discussed and reviewed on a periodic basis in accordance with the Access Community Services Limited policies and procedures
Provide training and assistance to other members of the team in procedures to ensure optimal service standards are achieved.
Submit payroll information in line with deadlines to ensure all entitlements can be processed within identified timeframes team in procedures to ensure optimal service standards are achieved.
Produce regular social media content to increase visibility of MyQ Council
Collaborate with employer to effectively engage target cohorts.
Support communication between external stakeholders and community and participants including through social media.
Complete regular reports that will track the progress and challenges relating to engagement, community issues and update of the projects.
Selection Criteria
Knowledge and experience in working with CALD communities, in particular young people.
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills to enable engagement with CALD families, communities and external stakeholders.
Proficiency in using current MS Office, database, social media and communication technologies.
Participation in Multicultural Youth Queensland Council.
Speak one or more of the languages commonly spoken within the LGA.
Experience in advocacy work on issues important to CALD communities and young people.
Tertiary qualification in Youth work, Social Work or related discipline.
Current Driver’s License.
