The Jamaica Bauxite Institute seeks to engage qualified and experienced individuals for the following position:
Chemical Engineer
Under the general supervision of the Director, Process Monitoring & Services, the Chemical Engineer will be required to:
Keep abreast of the literature and advances in the disposal of red mud slurry from Bayer alumina plants, in particular, those relating to mud thickening
Be knowledgeable of the Bayer Process operation at each plant site and the special problems encountered thus enable quick analysis of reported production problems
Be able to carry out energy and material balances over any Process or Unit operation thus facilitating prediction of process or unit operation efficiency
To be knowledgeable of research thrust in Bayer Process and related technologies thus at all times being full aware of the relative status of Bayer Process technology
To design and execute in the laboratory research and development programmes for the processing of Jamaican Bauxites
Minimum Qualifications and Other Requirements:
BSc. Degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited University
(Interested applicants should possess two (2) to three (3) years working experience in the field)
