The Role
The Sales Manager sits within our Food Distribution Division, reports into the Senior Manager: Sales, and is responsible for attracting new customers, winning new accounts and maximizing profitability. The Sales Manager will work the customer through the entire sales cycle: developing, educating and turning prospects into long-term customers.

Key Duties
STRATEGY: Channel(s):Propose the in-store look of success for the key categories within channels. Ensure the implementation and continuous review the effectiveness of the in-store/ channel category/ brand activations and merchandising executions at the store level/ shopper touchpoints. Support to ensure 100% in-store "on-shelf" availability, working closely with the field sales and merchandising teams to maximize sell-out opportunities and merchandising excellence. Recommend actionable in-store solutions within channels, based on a clear understanding of shopper behaviour related to the key categories within the assigned channel.

EXECUTION: Shopper Insights & Channel Activation Plans to drive Sell-Out:Execute the approved strategies and plans to accelerate sell-out at the Customer level, to deliver Category and Channel growth targets, based on strong and relevant consumer/shopper insights and aligned to customer needs and growth opportunities. Works closely with the Field Sales Team and Category Manager, in line with overall brand/category marketing strategies.

PLANNING: Integrated Commercial Planning (ICP) and Monthly Business:Actively contribute to the Monthly Business Planning processes. Demand review - present Channel category plans to be executed within the territory assigned and the aligned sales volumes to be committed for the Channel, working closely on the upcoming period plans in collaboration with Sales and Category Managers.

PLANNING: Customer - Joint Business Plans:Actively participate in the development and presentation of Customer Plans (JBP process) to key Customers within the channels, leveraging the support of the Marketing Team as needed to utilize relevant Consumer Insights, Market Share Analysis and Category trends which influence the respective channel/ category growth strategies.

MONITORING AND CONTROL:Recommend clear promotional guidelines based on shopper understanding and Channel (market) knowledge. Ensure all promotional investment is properly reviewed and evaluated for the assigned channel, in close collaboration with the Category Development Managers as needed; when needed, providing input and data to the Category Sales Development Managers to ensure accurate completion of any Pre/Post Evaluations for Category activities in the plan to be executed/ having been executed.

EXECUTION: Brand/ Category Activation within the assigned Channel:Working closely with the Consumer Marketing/ Events & Sampling/ Brand Activation/ Merchandising Teams and Category Sales Development Managers to align and refine Brand/ Category Activation plans and ensure the flawless execution of channel plans and branded activations to support sell-out at Shopper touch points.

TEAM DEVELOPMENT:Manage a team and provide effective guidance. Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture. Set clear team goals. Motivate and coach team members. Listen to team member’s feedback and solve issues while encouraging a solution-driven culture. Encourage creativity. Suggest and organize team building activities.

Qualifications
Business degree required
Agricultural and Food industry knowledge is a plus
A minimum of 5 or 6 years in Sales
